BRIDAL BEAUTY LOOKBOOK - WEEK 5

In this week's look I wanted to show how a little bit of eyeliner, a tad deeper lip and a different hair style and accessories can totally change the look!
We kept the makeup very similar to what we did last week, I only added a bit deeper eyeshadow, more black eyeliner and changed the lip.
Jackie pulled the hair back in a loose romantic updo, we wanted to keep it as soft as possible with lots of loose pieces framing the face

PHILADELPHIA WEDDING - MEGHAN AND ANDY

Meghan and Andy had a beautiful fall wedding at the John James Audubon Center in Mill Grove, Pa. The bride wanted a soft natural look for her wedding day makeup that would go well with the outdoors wedding, she wanted her cute freckles to show so I just lightly evened out her complexion with an airbrush makeup. We did a soft eye in pink, beige and brown tones to help her blue eyes stand out, a natural looking strip lash and just enough pop of color on the lips to tie it all together. The photos are by Shea Roggio

BRIDAL BEAUTY LOOKBOOK - WEEK 3

This week we are showing a bit more dramatic look for those brides who are not afraid of a bit of glam.
I did a smokey eye using the Shanghai Nights Eyeshadow Quad by Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics - used the Cherry Blossom all over the lid, then smoked it out with the Shitake and lined the eyes with a black pencil. Lost of mascara is a must for this look! Lips were accented by Smolder Lipstick by Youngblood as well. Model is also wearing a Mineral Primer, Liquid Mineral Foundation and Ultimate Concealer- all by Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.

I swept the hair in a side messy low bun, which I think complimented this look perfectly! We accented it with this stunning hair pin by Untamed Petals ( available at Lovely bride Philadelphia)

Those stunning art deco earrings are by Ti Adoro (available at Lovely Bride Philadelphia)

Vintage inspired bracelet by Untamed Petals ( available at Lovely Bride Philadelphia)

BRIDAL BEAUTY LOOKBOOK - WEEK 2

This week's look was inspired by classic hollywood makeup and hair. I wanted the model to look very elegant and classic. We swept her hair to the side and secured it with this stunning hair pin by Ti Adoro.
The makeup was kept pretty much the same as last weeks look, I only added a very thin winged out liquid eyeliner to give it more of an elegant look.

The model is wearing:
Mineral Primer and Mineral Liquid foundation, Creme Blush in Taffeta, Shanghai Nights Eyeshadow Quad in Bamboo and a bit of Beige-ing in the crease, Liquid Eyeliner and a lipstick in Vixen - all makeup products by Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.

Dress is Santorini by Katie May and earings by Ti Adoro, both from Lovely Bride Boutique

BRIDAL BEAUTY LOOKBOOK - WEEK 1

Few months ago, while browsing through Pinterest, I had an idea to create some beautiful inspirational images showcasing stunning bridal makeup and hair as well as interesting jewelry and accessories. I approached my friend Carina Romano (Love Me Do Photography) if she would be interested in working with me on this project. She agreed and brought on board Ivy the owner of Lovely Bride Philadelphia.
I am so excited to introduce this series to the readers of my blog!

The first look I wanted to try was this very romantic yet elegant makeup with focus on a bright red lip, neutral eye and soft, dreamy loose waves.

The model's skin was primed with Mineral Primer and then evened out with a light application of Liquid Mineral Foundation ( I used stippling brush). Kelsey had this beautiful ivory skin tone which I wanted only enhance a bit with a Creme Blush in Taffeta lightly applied with fingertips. Her eyes were kept very neutral; I used the Shanghai Nights Eyeshadow Quad: I applied Bamboo and Cherry Blossom all over the lid and a very very light accent of Beige-ing in the crease. This model had naturally stunning long eyelashes so I only had to curl them and  applied few coats of mascara. I really wanted to create a strong brow so I filled it out with a brow pencil in taupe. The fiery lips were accented with Vixen Lipstick.

Philadelphia Bride - Leigh

Leigh and Thomas were married on a stunning Sunday at the end of May 2013. The ceremony was performed at Leigh's parent's home and the reception at the Bellevue in Philadelphia.
Photos by Marie Labbancz
Leigh wanted a very natural makeup with only few individual false eyelashes, a light lip and a touch of blush. For hair she opted for a loose relaxed wave.
Makeup was done by Aleksandra and hair by Jackie.
Here is the review she wrote for us on Wedding Wire:

"I can't overemphasize how much confidence I have in Aleks. Aleks is the best makeup artist, period. I had several trials with other of Philly's "leading" makeup artists, and was so frustrated by the experiences, I thought I might just try to do my own wedding makeup. I don't wear much makeup daily; I was looking for a natural look - I wanted to look like myself on my wedding day, just enhanced. But as I found out during my other trials before Aleks (and having my makeup professionally done a dozen times in the past), that seems to be very difficult for people! Every other makeup artist gave me a mask of foundation and their standard template of makeup - read: covering up all your skin and re-adding to make it a face, and insisting that I needed a certain amount of eyeliner or fake lashes to "show up in pictures" or "last the day" or "you're just not used to seeing yourself with makeup," etc.

Aleks was the best, and the only one who was different. She was my third makeup trial attempt for my wedding. She really listened to what I wanted, and progressively added each make up element conservatively to see if I liked it before moving on. This was so key, because often you see the whole outcome at once at the end, or several parts at once, and it may be hard to zero in on what you don't like about/what's off. She knows when to use makeup, and most importantly when NOT to - based on an eye for what looks best to enhance each person.

For hair, Jackie did a great job turning my normal mane of long curls into modern, big soft curls down-'do. She was very patient and worked with me to achieve my vision, even when I was struggling with how to communicate it. She also did a great job on my mom's hair, which is short and thin, and she worries about it breaking. Jackie listened and respectfully maneuvered my mom's 'do, taking in to account her concerns about the fragility of her hair."

SUZANNE AND NICK

Suzanne and Nick got married on a beautiful May day at the Holly Hedge Estate in New Hope Pennsylvania, about 40 miles from Philadelphia. I love this beautiful rustic venue, so stunning!

Suzanne opted for soft relaxed waves for her hair style and a romantic delicate smoked eye and pink lip. She was such a beautiful and stylish bride!

We just loved doing makeup and hair on this beauty and her bridal party!

CELEBRITY CLIENT - LOUIS VAN AMSTEL

Last week I had a pleasure of working with Louis Van Amstel, you might know him from the Dancing with the Stars!  Louis was such a pleasure to work with: easygoing, super sweet and very funny. I did grooming for a video we shot at the Society Hill Dance Academy, here is a screen shot!
Louis was in Philadelphia also promoting  and training instructors for his  new dance fitness program - LaBlast

PHILADELPHIA BRIDE - ASHLEY

Ashley and Matt got married on a beautiful summer day in Villanova, PA. We got there bright and early to get started on the makeup and hair. What a great bridal party this was!
Ashley wanted a little bit more dramatic eye with a false strip lash, her skin is naturally stunning so I just enhanced it a bit with the airbrush foundation, a bit of cream blush and some bronzer. She wanted her lips to pop without overpowering the whole look so I gave her nice rosy shade to compliment the rest of the makeup
Here is the beautiful review Ashley left for us:
"It was so wonderful working with Aleksandra and Jackie. I had my trial in July at the studio and was immediately impressed -- they were both so friendly and warm, and made my mother and I both feel very comfortable. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, and they executed it perfectly, explaining their techniques along the way and had plenty of patience for all the questions that we had that day.

On my actual wedding day in August, I had a few minor last-minute changes to what I was hoping for -- it didn't phase them at all. Together they were able to perfectly achieve my dream bridal look, and did an amazing job on my bridesmaids and our mothers, too. The five of us cover a variety of skin types/tones and hair types/thicknesses, and in the end we all looked our best individually but also collectively.

I felt relaxed and pampered on the morning of my wedding, and I am so grateful to Aleks and Jackie for that. Their professionalism throughout the whole process made for a smooth and enjoyable experience overall. I would highly recommend their services to any bride (or anyone else with professional makeup needs), and look forward to finding an excuse to work with them again." Ashley Fortino

Sarah and Tony's wedding

Sarah and Tony got married in the beautiful club Jasna Polana in Princeton, NJ. Sarah had a wonderful international group of friends who travelled from all around the world to be with her on that special day. It was such a pleasure and honor to be part of this event. Rachel Platten performance on LIVE with Kelly and Michael

Today I had an amazing pleasure of working with the lovely Rachel Platten again. She was performing her Fight Song this morning on the ABC show LIVE with Kelly and Michael.

Rachel wanted a smokey eye and nude lip which I think look perfect on this beauty! For achieve the flawless finish on her skin we did Temptu airbrush makeup.

I was very happy how the look turned out. Dramatic enough for a pop star but still soft enough for a morning show. I hope you liked it too! :)

Here are also few behind the scenes photos for your viewing pleasure! :)

It was a great team we had today!

SPRING BEAUTY LOOK

Creating a natural and soft spring makeup is easier then you think! There was no filter or photoshop applied to the below photos :)

Todays look I created for a stylized bridal shoot  we did at Terrain at Stylers in Glenn Mills, PA. I wanted this model to look fresh, glowing and radiant with minimal makeup but enough to make her look polished. I only used Arbonne cosmetics for this look. On a clean moisturized face I blended Sheer Glow Highlighter all over focusing on the cheekbones and center of the face, then I used Perfecting Liquid Foundation in Rosy Beige but if you are on a lighter side Honey Beige  will be perfect for you.  For little imperfections and under eye darkness I used a tad of Creme Concealer in Medium - you really don't need a lot as it's very pigmented and covers very well! The Blush in Teffeta gave Kelly a beautiful natural flushed glow. On the eyes I used Eyeshadow in Petal all over the lid and in Divine Plum only on the moving part of the lid. I lined the upper waterline and under the lower lashes withEyeliner in Cocoa and finished with It's A Long Sotry Mascara in Black (no false lashes needed with this mascara!).

FIND YOUR TRUE SKIN TONE

by Cassie Brewer

Be proud to wear the color that you call your own
— Cheena Mae Oralde

Loving and accepting yourself--your skintone, desires, idiosyncrasies, body type, and facial features--is an important part of life’s journey. And in a small way, this guide should help you!

Yes, we’re talking about how to determine your skin tone! The process is fun and easy!

Who doesn’t like discovering and celebrating their own uniqueness?

Plus, once you’ve found and embraced your true skin tone, you’re armed with an important tool: knowledge of color!

Dressing and applying makeup for your skintone is like painting with a palette designed especially for you! Skin-tone awareness allows you to get creative with the way you present yourself, and it enables you to highlight your best features. Okay… so snap a quick selfie for good measure, and let’s get started!

FIRST, ARE YOU WARM OR COOL?

Here’s a great test: hold a plain white piece of paper next to your face! Now take note of your skin’s undertones. If you observe mostly yellow tones, then you’re “warm.” If you notice more pink tones instead, then you’re “cool.” See? Wasn’t that easy? If you’re still unsure, try this test instead.

Stand outside in the sunlight.  If your veins look green you’re warm. If they look blue,
you’re cool.

Next, Check Your Contrast

This part is simple. And it will help you to determine which “season” you are. Skintone is sometimes labeled by seasons. This is especially true of fashion. (If you’ve ever heard anyone say, “You’re a winter. This color suits you,” that’s what they mean.)

Take a gaze at your reflection in the mirror.

Clear Contrast v. Muted Contrast

This means that there is a distinct difference between your skin tone and eye color/hair color. If there is little contrast between your skin tone, eyes, and hair (say a blonde a similar honey skin tone) than your contrast is muted.

Skin Temperature Plus Contrast = Season

So check this out! Here’s your definitive season guide:

● Warm plus high contrast: You’re a Spring! You look great in pastels like yellow,
light pink, and a light olive! Try to avoid dark colors with strong contrast.

 ● Warm plus low contrast: You’re an Autumn! Rich earth tones look fantastic on you!
Avoid clear, bright colors.

● Cool plus high contrast: You’re a winter! You look great in jewel tones and dramatic hues.
Avoid beige and washed out colors.

● Cool plus low contrast: You’re a summer! Pastels and neutrals are very flattering.
Avoid harsh, dramatic colors like black and orange.

Remember, there are no hard and fast rules. If you really love wearing black but you’re a Spring, do you, honey! Wear what makes you happy.

Bridal Beauty and Color

This guide can be particularly handy when picking out colors for your wedding. Chances are you want to look as lovely as possible. And your pictures will last you a lifetime. Therefore, consider picking out bridesmaids dresses and flowers in colors that complement your skin tone “season.” You’ll be creating a flattering backdrop for yourself.
